艾草，芙蓉，抹草 避邪三寶Mugwort, hibiscus, and mugwort are the three treasures for warding off evil.

Mugwort and hibiscus are the most commonly used plants for warding off evil spirits in Taiwanese folk tradition; they are regarded as two of the “Three Treasures for Warding Off Evil and Bringing Peace” (the third being mugwort). They are frequently used to purify energy fields, dispel negative energy, and ward off malevolent influences after funerals or visits to the sick. Mugwort is often hung or burned during the Dragon Boat Festival and has a strong fragrance; hibiscus (also known as “Qi Ai”) is regarded as capable of attracting good fortune and warding off misfortune due to its silvery-white leaves and distinctive scent, and its name is a homophone for “husband’s honor” (夫榮 husband honors). 

Methods for Warding Off Evil and Purification with Mugwort and Hibiscus:

Wearing Method: When entering or leaving places with heavy Yin energy, such as funerals, hospitals, or cemeteries, place fresh mugwort or hibiscus leaves in a red envelope and carry it on your person. Discard it before leaving the location or upon returning home.
